Digital cameras are a greta advent of technology if you ask me. I remember fighting with film cameras back in the day and they are such a pain to deal with. There are lots of options on the market for just about every level of person from professional photographer to kids who just like taking pictures with their friends. I’ve been through my fair number of digital cameras (I’m clumsy, especially when holding electronics). Anyway the important thing is that you find the best digital camera for you, but I’ll give you some help in getting started on what might suit your needs.

#1 - Nikon D3100 14.2MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AF-S DX VR Nikkor Zoom Lens
You can’t beat a Nikon in terms of digital cameras currently, and the D3100 is my favorite. It’s a litte fancy for someone who is a REAL beginner, but for even moderate level photo takers it’s got all the bells and whistles while still being simple enough to use. If you’re looking for the absolute best digital camera that will last you for years to come, this is the one for you. It’s versatile and can do anything you want it to. If I was stuck with just one camera for the rest of my life it would be this one. |

#2 - Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD
So going in the other direction from #1, the Canon PowerShot is so simple a baby could use it, and it’s a great price too. This camera is a lot of fun in its own way as it has a lot of the features of a pricier bigger camera. I bought one of these for my teenage daughter and it is the perfect camera for her, or it makes a great travel camera for those who want something that it is easy to just shove in your bag. |

#3 - Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD
Here is your camera if you’re looking for a compact camera that still provides a lot of options to the user. For a point and shoot it’s probably for the mid to high level photographer. It took me a little while to get used to this one, and I wouldn’t have added it to the list except for the fact that you can do ANYTHING with it once you get the hang of it. This baby won’t just take great wedding photos, it will plan the wedding and perform the ceremony. |

#4 - Canon SX30IS 14.1MP Digital Camera with 35x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.7 Inch Wide LCD
Here is another great camera offering from Canon. I really like a few things about this one that will really work if it meets your specific needs. The wide angle lens plus the stabilized zoom feature make it great for taking vast landscape shots or big wilderness photos. If that’s the kind of photography you like then this may just been the camera for you. |

#5 - Nikon Coolpix L22 12.0MP Digital Camera with 3.6x Optical Zoom and 3.0-Inch LCD
This is another solid offing from Nikon, offering a great point and shoot camera. It has a great LCD screen to let you view photos right after you take them and see if they are what you are looking for. The best thing about this camera has to be it’s price point though. For such a low cost you’ll be hard pressed to buy a disposable camera let alone one that is this high quality. It makes a great travel trip camera because even if you end up losing it the world won’t end. |

#6 - Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H55 14.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Wide Angle Optical Zoom with SteadyShot Image Stabilization and 3.0 inch LCD
Since digital cameras came onto the scene the CyberShot has been an industry standard and Sony just keeps making them better and better. For a compact camera this one had a great lens. The “sweep panorama mode” let’s you take shots as wide as you can imagine and is really a neat feature to play with. It’s hard to beat this camera and you’re always safe going with a sony for usability. |

#7 - Fujifilm FinePix S1800 12.2 MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle Optical Dual Image Stabilized Zoom and 3-Inch LCD
Fujifilm isn’t a camera maker that immediately pops to mind when you think of digital cameras anymore, but once you give this one a shot you might have to reconsider your position. In terms of a camera that can perform this is up at the tops. If you want a simple point and shoot camera and don’t care too much about being compace then this might just be your baby. |

#8 - Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD
I figured when dealing with cameras I had better have at least one brick on this list. This camera is virtually indestructible. It’s a great underwater camera and if you’re into diving or are just a bit of a klutz this is a great option. My kids loved playing with this one in the pool all summer and we brought it along on our trip to Florida and it worked well in the ocean too. What was really impressive, after I couldn’t get the salt off to my satisfaction I just put it through our dishwasher and it came out as good as new. |

#9 - Polaroid CIA-1237RC 12MP CCD Digital Camera with 2.7-Inch LCD Display
Here is a nice simple camera from a brand that is top of mind when it comes to cameras. Polaroid has fallen off the earth a little bit lately but this this camera I think they will be back big time. I’d still love to have them put out some more good cameras to get a bit more of a new age track record, but this one will do just about anything you need it to. |

#10 - Kodak EasyShare C182 Digital Camera
How could I have a list of cameras without something from Kodak who ruled the industry for my entire childhood. The EasyShare is just what it claims to be, easy. Looking for a camera for your elderly parents then I would suggest this bad boy is right up there with any you should be considering. It gets the job done, and done well, without being too complicated to suit it’s purpose. |

I have a Cannon SX210IS that my husband got me for Christmas two years ago, it’s an earlier version of the SX10IS (#4) and I love it. Maybe next year I’ll be due for an upgrade!
Anyway I found it really easy to use, and while I do like to take good pictures I’m certainly no pro (although people always complement me on how they turn out, and that feels good). The only bad thing I can say is that I had to replace the rechargeable battery because I wasn’t getting a good life out of them when I used the flash.
